Where are the best places to retire?

policy

My husband and I lived down in Georgia before we had kids, back when we were both in the military. I actually became pregnant with our first when we lived there, so that was over 7 years ago.

When I was about 8 months pregnant we moved a couple states over to Mississippi, where my husband would be going to Air Force tech school. Since then we also lived in Texas briefly and then moved back to Michigan where we are both originally from.

We always talk about how much we loved living in Georgia though and how someday we’ll go back. I would have loved to stay down there and raise our family but things have brought us up here for the time being. I think for us Georgia would be one of the best places to retire when we’re older though.

It’s so beautiful down there and the weather is just about always perfect (especially compared to the weather here in Michigan). I think they had one light dusting of snow during winter while we were down there and everyone said even that was rare. The people were so nice and friendly and it was a really great experience for the time we got to live there.

There are some pretty amazing retirement communities down in Georgia too. Cresswind At Lake Lanier looks beautiful and has awesome amenities to go with it. I definitely want us to be able to enjoy our time and live stress free after we retire.

We of course want to stay active too and have things around us to keep us busy- fishing, tennis, hiking, swimming, etc. We’ve almost always been near water wherever we’ve lived so that’s a must no matter where we end up when we retire!

Where do you think the best places to retire would be?
