My four year old has been using a natural toothpaste since she stopped using toddler training toothpaste and started learning how to brush her teeth. It took her a little longer to get the whole spitting thing down and I didn’t want her swallowing toothpaste that was harmful to her.
We all know that FDA warning label on the back of the toothpaste that reads “If you accidentally swallow more than used for brushing, seek professional help or contact a poison control center immediately”. And in fact fluoride has been linked to a number of health problems that include dental fluorosis, thyroid problems, osteoporosis, cancer and more.
Dr. Sharp Dentistry created a natural oral care line that is a healthy alternative to fluoride products by combining natural and certified organic botanicals:
- fluoride-free
- sls-free (no sodium lauryl sulfate)
- paraben-free
- alcohol-free
- vegan & cruelty free
- sustainable (eco-friendly packaging is printed with soy ink)
- received the highest rating from the International Academy of Oral Medicine & Toxicology (IAOMT)

My daughter was able to try the Dr. Sharp Strawberry Cream Kids toothpaste. It foamed up just as well as her other toothpaste and she immediately said she liked the flavor. After brushing though she did say there was a weird taste. I think that was partly just because it was different from the strawberry toothpaste she had already been using. She’s used it again since then and hasn’t complained too much about the aftertaste but does prefer the other one if given the choice.

I also started my almost 3 year old on this toothpaste since she’s now making the switch from toddler training toothpaste and she liked it a lot. I love that I can teach her the proper way to brush her teeth and not worry about her swallowing unnecessary fluoride and other ingredients while she’s still learning to spit out the toothpaste.

My son is starting to let me brush his teeth more regularly but only with my toothbrush with toothpaste on it. I need a flouride free option so I’ll be checking this out!
I have lived in different areas throughout my parenting, where doctors have said to keep kids off the fluoride, and other parts where my kids need the fluoride because of the quality of water. We’re in a non-fluoride area now, so thanks for sharing. I hadn’t heard of this brand before.

Sounds like a great toothpaste. I personally like natural toothpastes better then the chemical ones. They make my teeth feel cleaner somehow.
