Since becoming a parent I have more and more to do in a day, and yet it seems that most days I get less and less done! I always have the best intentions- clean the house, run errands… but somehow it never quite goes as planned.
Take for example yesterday evening. Hubby and I pack up the kids after he gets home from work to pick up a few things (the usual run- stuff for the kitchen project at Lowe’s and essentials at Walmart). And we also wanted to stop at a few dealerships to check out some vehicles since we’re looking for something to replace our minivan.
We get all the kids loaded up, making sure everyone’s used the potty beforehand, and drive about 5 miles up the road to the first stop- a car dealership. We pull in and park, I start to get out to look at a new minivan, and the next thing I hear is my husband saying “the baby* puked“!
Sooo… just like that, outing cancelled… and nothing accomplished! I spent the rest of the ride home cleaning her up and holding a bag near her in case she puked again. It turned out to be just a random puking too, she had no fever and (thankfully) hasn’t puked again since then.
This isn’t just a one-time thing though- having kids is one adventure after another. When I go out by myself with the kids I rarely get everything done I set out to do- someone gets hungry or falls asleep in the van. When we’re home and I start to do something, the next thing I know I have to stop and clean up a spilled drink or get crayon off the new dining room floor…

(insert 40 minute intermission here)
…or clean up poop. Yup, before I could even finish this post the baby* pooped on the potty. Literally the poop was on the potty, not in it, and on her hands (she tried to clean it up). I’m happy she tried to make it to the potty but UGH! Poop and puke are two of the worst jobs of being a parent. So clean up baby*, clean up poop…
and wait for the next “adventure”. Ahh, the joys of parenthood… if it isn’t one thing it’s another… Happy Parenting to all and to all a good night!! :D
* she’s not really a baby anymore (she’s 2) but she’s the baby of the family so we still call her that. ;)

I so feel your pain! Even though we love our kids, there are times when they drive us crazy! Our last two anniversaries, the kids have gone with us out to dinner – romantic? NO! But that’s this stage in life!
Yep, having kids is an adventure! Hubby and I had a date night tonight – we went to Lowes, Target and for a quick dinner… it was exciting to be able to shop without little helpers!
I can totally relate to this. We’ve had NO life since the birth of our son!!
